McColgan joins Henderson, Franklin, Starns & Holt

The law firm of Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., has announced that attorney Dillon McColgan has joined the firm's Tort & Insurance Litigation division. He returns to the firm after serving as a summer associate in 2016.

McColgan focuses his practice in premises liability, automobile, personal injury defense and coverage issues.

McColgan is a Cape Coral native, graduating from Mariner High School in 2009. He is a member of the Lee County Bar Association and Defense Research Institute. He also volunteers his time to help local charities, including the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.

Cape Supercuts salons

to hold 'Clips for the Cure' event

Supercuts salons in Cape Coral will be participating in a fundraising event Saturday, Oct. 21 with 10 percent of all haircut proceeds benefiting the Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. Both Cape Coral locations at 1119 Del Prado Blvd., S., (239-574-8661) and 1751 N.E. Pine Island Road (239-458-9888) will be participating in the "Clips for the Cure," as will other Supercuts locations throughout Southwest Florida.

The Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research, which was established in 1994, has raised nearly $12 million for groundbreaking research at Mayo Clinic and the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota. In addition, the Foundation supports institutions that assist and treat patients with breast cancer.

"The health and wellness of our patron guests, our employees, and the entire Cape Coral community is of critical importance to us, and the fight against breast cancer is a cause that has been close to our hearts for many years. Through an event such as 'Clips for the Cure,' our Supercuts professional get to team up with our guests that come to the salon on this particular day every year to make a difference", said Jim McEleney, owner of both Supercuts in Cape Coral and a Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce member.

Traffic numbers decline in September at Southwest Florida International Airport

During September, 327,466 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, a decrease of 16.4 percent compared to September 2016. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 2.1 percent from the same period last year.

The traffic leader in September was Delta Air Lines with 75,168 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Southwest (60,369), JetBlue (55,070), American (54,090) and United (27,580).

Southwest Florida International Airport had 4,253 aircraft operations, an increase of 12 percent compared to September 2016. Page Field saw 5,467 operations, a 25.3 percent decrease from September 2016. In addition, slightly more than 2.4 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in September 2017, a decrease of 1.4 percent compared to September 2016.

Henderson Franklin's Sprout named 'Trial Lawyer of the Year'

Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., has announced that Attorney Vicki Sproat will be honored as "Trial Lawyer of the Year" at the Thursday, Nov. 2, annual judicial dinner of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.

The criteria for this lifetime achievement award includes being an excellent advocate with a distinguished career and having a superb reputation of high ethics and fair play.

ABOTA is an invitation-only national organization of trial attorneys dedicated to preserving the independence of the judiciary and the right to trial by jury.

Sproat has been a board certified civil trial lawyer for 25 years. She concentrates her practice in employment law, where she provides counsel to and litigates cases for public and private employers, as well as conducts workplace investigations. Sproat also handles general business litigation matters.

Cape Coral Technical College to hold Dog Wash Oct. 27

Cape Coral Technical College will be holding a Dog Wash Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on the campus at 360 Santa Barbara Blvd., N., in Cape Coral.

The cost is $15 for small and medium dogs and $20 for large dogs 50 pounds and over.

Included with the bath will be ear cleaning and toe nail trimmings.

Dog owners having their pets washed will receive $2 for a donation of a towel. (Limit one towel per dog).
