Lee BIA Builders Care to host inaugural Charity Clay Shoot Dec. 8

Lee BIA Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association, will host its inaugural Charity Clay Shoot Friday, Dec. 8, at Bermont Shooting Club, at 40571 Bermont Road in Punta Gorda. Presented by Land Solutions Inc., the tournament will aid Lee BIA Builders Care in providing emergency repairs and construction services at no cost to elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged homeowners in Lee County.

During the beginner-friendly tournament, participants will shoot clays on the 14-station course with optional five stand and wobble trap competitions. Registration and check-in will begin at 9 a.m. with the tournament commencing at 10 a.m. Competition will conclude with a barbecue lunch and awards ceremony at noon, which will recognize the top teams and individual winners.

Registration is $600 for teams of four people and $150 for individuals. Cart rentals are available for $40 per team, or participants may bring their own side-by-side utility vehicle or golf cart. Ammo can be brought from home or purchased on-site.

Land Solutions Inc. is the presenting sponsor for the event. Additional sponsorship opportunities are now available with prize, lunch and beverage level sponsorships at $2,500 each, which include one team registration, lunch, cart rental, company banner and event recognition. A limited amount of big shot sponsorships are also available for $1,000 and include one team registration, lunch, cart rental and company banner.

Cypress Cove renovations under way by R.D. Johnson Construction Inc.

R.D. Johnson Construction Inc. has started construction services for the interior renovations of the existing resident rooms at the Lodge in Cypress Cove Retirement Community, which is located at 10500 Cypress Cove Drive in Fort Myers.

R.D. Johnson is in the process of renovating 64 resident rooms, with up-to-date equipment and modern design upgrades to each space. The renovations will include all new flooring, casework, wood trim, painting, acoustical ceilings in the restroom, electrical devices, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, shower units and new toilet accessories. The project will be completed four rooms at a time, and each room is approximately 260 square feet. After recently finishing the seventh set of rooms, R.D. Johnson Construction has completed a total of 28 rooms.

Hudnall's Home Check Services earns NHWA accredited member status

Hudnall's Home Check Services has earned accredited member status from the National Home Watch Association for the fourth consecutive year. The NHWA was formed in 2009 in order to establish and maintain the highest industry standards for Home Watch and absentee homeowner services throughout the United States and Canada ( Home Watch is a service that "keeps an eye on things" at your vacation or primary home while you are not in residence.

Ron Hudnall has lived in Fort Myers since 1960 and is a 28-year veteran of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, where he served as a road patrol deputy, K-9 handler, supervisor and school resource officer. He also spent several years in the Crime Prevention Unit, where he educated homeowners on home security and Neighborhood Watch programs.

Nancy Hudnall is a long-time resident of Lee County who moved from Long Island, N.Y., to Florida in 1972. After graduating from Cape Coral High School, she did administrative work then went to work as a 911 operator and dispatcher for six years at the Lee County Sheriff's Office, where she met Ron.

The two started their Home Watch business because many of Nancy's real estate clients purchased second homes and needed someone to watch them and handle any issues that arose.
