September 1, 2017
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

The "Original" Cape Coral Bullyride and the C.A.R.E.S. for Heroes appreciation event will be held Sunday, Sept 17, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., in Cape Coral.

Both community outreaches are services of C.A.R.E.S. Suicide Prevention. America C.A.R.E.S. About Bullying focuses on bullying awareness among youth and C.A.R.E.S. for Heroes honors veterans, active duty military and first responders while raising awareness of PTSD among these heroes.

"The event is designed to raise community awareness, raise money to support current and future assistance programs and enlist the volunteerism of the community," said Thomas MacKenn, event chairperson and board of directors member of C.A.R.E.S. Prevention. "Our kids, veterans, first responders and active duty military deserve our best effort in making that happen!"

The extravaganza starts with a motorcycle rally ride beginning at The German American Club on Pine Island Road in Cape Coral, with kickstands up at 9:15 a.m.

The cost is $15 per rider and $5 per passenger. After leaving the German American Club, the ride goes to North Fort Myers, Fort Myers and back into Cape Coral.

Participants in the motorcycle run and the public are invited to stay for the all-ages celebration, from noon to 6 p.m., at the Dixie Roadhouse on Southeast 47th Terrace in Cape Coral.

There will be a $5 all-u-can-eat pancake breakfast available during rally registration from 7-9 a.m. served by Kevin's Old Time Pancakes.

Dixie Roadhouse will have a lunch menu available, along with beverages. Live music will be provided by The LCEC Killowatts, The New Machine Band and Crossthred. There will be raffles, 50/50s, and more! Come help C.A.R.E.S. Suicide Prevention save lives in our community!

Pre-registration for the motorcycle rally before midnight Sunday, Sept. 3, will qualify the rider for a free event T-shirt, and the passenger to a discounted T-shirt for only $5.
