Special to the Breeze , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

Brent Rooker belted his first professional grand slam Saturday night as the Fort Myers Miracle took down the Jupiter Hammerheads 10-4.

The win is the fourth straight and puts the Miracle 1 1/2 games ahead in the Florida State League's South division standings.

Jupiter (24-17) plated the first run of the game against Miracle starter Randy LeBlanc. With runners at the corners and one out in the third, John Silviano sent a ground ball to first. Mitchell Kranson threw home, but Corey Bird slid in ahead of the tag.

The Miracle (26-16, 59-51) answered in the bottom of the frame against Cody Poteet (3-4). After Tanner English reached with a leadoff walk, Jaylin Davis singled to right on a hit-and-run. English got to third and, as the cutoff throw bounced away from everyone, came home to score the tying run. Davis later came in on a wild pitch. With runners at second and third, Kranson stepped up with two outs to deliver a two-runI single to put the Miracle up 4-1.

In the top of the fifth, Davis cut down Bird at the plate trying to score from second on Colby Lusignan's single. He then led off the bottom of the fifth with a single of his own and later scored on Jermaine Palacios' two-out infield hit. Two batters later, Rooker jumped in with the bases loaded. His opposite field shot continued to carry until it left the yard, his first grand slam for the Twins organization. Poteet was tagged for nine runs, all earned, in his loss.

Fort Myers added one more tally with a two-out, RBI-single by Brandon Lopez in the sixth to score Davis for the third time. The Miracle were outhit 13 to 10 as 20 of the 23 hits in the game were singles.
