Industry partners band together to donate equipment trailer to Lee BIA Builders Care

Earlier this year, board members and long-time supporters of the Lee Building Industry Association pledged funds to provide Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee BIA, with a much-needed equipment trailer. Donated at no cost to Lee BIA Builders Care, the trailer will assist staff and volunteers in carrying out the organization's mission by storing the materials and tools needed to provide emergency home repairs to elderly and disabled homeowners in Lee County

Through a fundraising campaign for the trailer, more than $10,000 was raised by the following companies: Advance Homes, Argos USA, Barraco & Associates, Better Buildings, Bolaos Truxton, Cape Coral Plumbing, CRE Consultants, Crews Environmental, Five County Insurance, Frank R. Jenkins Custom Homes, Land Solutions, Lennar, Marvin Development, Riverview Homes and Spiro & Associates.

A 16-foot enclosed trailer was purchased by the organization with the help and generosity of Tropic Trailer. The trailer was wrapped with a custom designed wrap that was donated by Priority Marketing and installed by Killer Wraps.

"We appreciate the generosity of all the individuals and their businesses that made this trailer possible," said Christi Pritchett Sarlo, executive director of Lee BIA Builders Care. "We cannot express how much this will help us in providing assistance to our applicants for many years to come."

Lee BIA Builders Care is the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association. Beattie Development to hold benefit to help Cape Coral teachers

A recent study by education publishing company Scholastic discovered that the average school teacher it surveyed spent $530 of his or her own money on classroom items during the previous school year. Hoping to prevent similar expenses among Cape Coral teachers this year, local homebuilder Beattie Development will hold a benefit so that the community can be the source of those supplies for its hard-working elementary school educators.

The Beattie School Supply Collection Party will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 3, at the company's Model Home Center, 1815 Cape Coral Parkway, West. Visitors who arrive with classroom supplies for local teachers will be treated to drinks and gourmet eats by Dave's Bangin' BBQ, along with personal thanks from area teachers.

Beattie Development Sales Manager Brittany Turner worked with Cape Coral principals to identify the classroom items their teachers need the most. Those include: dry erase markers, pencils, crayons, colored pencils, colored copy paper, colored cardstock, Post-it Notes in a variety of sizes and colors, stickers, sports-theme decorations, paperback picture and chapter books, Sticky Tack and Dr. Seuss-themed items.

Lee County public school teachers return to work Aug. 3, giving them just one week to get their classrooms outfitted and decorated before students begin the new school year on Aug. 10.
