The Oasis Middle School boys tennis team defeated Lexington Middle Monday to capture the Lee County Middle School Championship at Ruten-berg Park in Fort Myers. En route to the title match, Oasis opened the tournament by defeating Trafalgar Middle, then Diplomat Middle and Gulf Middle. The team, which finished the regular season undefeated, is coached by Joe Carson. The players on the squad include: #1 singles Matthew Orozco, 8th grade; #2 singles Christopher Zuk, 7th grade; #3 singles, Todd Bennie, 6th grade; #1 doubles, Eric Feichthaler and James Zuk (both 6th graders); and #2 doubles Jonathan Kuzmich and Trevor Sullivan. Carson pointed out the outstanding play of Orozco, who has a perfect 26-0 record over the past three seasons (the team record over that time is 26-1). This season, Orozco is 9-0 with a composite game score of 45-3. With the win, the team can now play in the state tournament.
