What’s good for the goose...

Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

As the stomach turns aka Council Meetings right here is Cape Coral, which have gotten out of hand! Did you know that the Mayor and Council is not subject to the same rules that the residents are subjected to?

The residents have to go through a metal detector before entering the Council Chambers. This is to ensure that the Mayor and Council are safe from the residents.

Conversely, the Mayor and Council enter the chambers through a back door via their own elevator. They do not go through the metal detectors. Considering that there are those sitting on the dais that have concealed weapons permits, and the different anger management problems emanating from the dais, this different standard gives one pause.

To compound this, the Mayor allows her ex-husband (against whom she once obtained a restraining order) to ride up in this private elevator along with another female, thus avoiding the metal detectors. She makes her own rules for herself and her friends to follow. This has to be stopped!

The mayor's ex-husband again displayed an anger management issue during the Council Meeting. He threatened a speaker during Citizens Input and was restrained by those sitting around him.

What is fair for the residents should also be applied to the Mayor and Council. The Mayor and Council should be required to go through the metal detectors before entering the Council Chambers, no ifs, ands or buts!

With what has been going on of late, the residents need assurance that they will be safe while attending a Council Meeting.

Let them know how you feel.
