Lee County Community Development issues April permit report

During April, contractors pulled 96 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at about $27.7 million in unincorporated Lee County. That compares to 112 permits issued in March 2017 and 93 issued in April 2016, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.

Also during April, 12 multi-family units valued at about $500,000 were permitted, compared to 48 units in March 2017 and 28 units in April 2016.

General commercial activity was valued at about $20.7 million for 21 permits, compared to about $4.2 million in March 2017 and about $1.7 million in April 2016.

Lee County Community Development issued 4,023 permits of all kinds in April.

Lee County Community Development oversees planning, zoning, development and building services, environmental review, building inspection, and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Lee County.

GATES Construction to build new senior living community

GATES Construction has been selected by Medical Development Corp, a senior living development and management firm, to build a new senior community in Fort Myers. Developed and managed by MDC, the Canterfield brand offers cutting edge senior housing with a neighborhood concept, allowing residents to age in place with various levels of care available.
