The monthly "Do The Right Thing" ceremony for April was held Wednesday in City Council Chambers at City Hall. Ten Cape Coral students were recognized.
* Josie McWilliam, 4th Grade,
Christa McAuliffe Elementary School
Josie found a credit card on the walkway in front of her neighbor's house. Instead of keeping the card or leaving it on the ground, Josie turned the card in to her neighbor. The neighbor was able to give the card back to its rightful owner.
* Erika Peterson, 8th Grade,
Challenger Middle School
Erika volunteers to assist a student who has a learning disability and struggles academically. Erika is extremely patient, gentle and encourages the student. Her efforts have made a difference in this child's life.
* MaKenna Stearns, 3rd Grade,
Pine Island Elementary School
MaKenna was concerned that "Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary" did not have enough food to feed all 200 cats. MaKenna decided to ask for cat food for Christmas rather than gifts for herself.
* Dylan Tracey, 12th Grade, Oasis High School
* Joseph Tracey, 7th Grade, Oasis Middle School
If it were not for the actions of Joseph and Dylan, their mother would not be here today. This past December their mom, Nancy, suffered a heart attack. Joseph alerted his dad who called 9-1-1 while Dylan assisted his mom in getting dressed before the paramedics arrived.
