To the editor:
Earth Day is every day, not just April 22. Pride in the Earth's environment does not seem to exist. We would not need an Environmental Protection Agency if everyone did not pollute the air, did not pollute the land, did not pollute the water.
That sentence was so easy to write but not polluting is so hard. Actually it is impossible but we can try to pollute less. We need to all think about what we can do to reduce our impact on the land.
Of course, recycle, consolidate car trips, plant trees, trim existing trees less, use less water, pick up litter. If you have an empty lot nearby, pick up the litter. Those few minutes picking up litter will make you feel good.
I'm sure you have noticed that Lee County has a lot of litter. Why is that? Get involved, also, in a conservation group. You could join in the fight to save "The Old Golf Club" as a park and not 500 homes.
I could write pages about what can be done like solar and wind power, electric cars, solar cars, etc. etc. People are working to save the earth in big ways but we, as individuals, can help save the earth every day by pledging to reduce our personal impact.
Remember recycle your "Breeze" Newspaper.
