Trey Vavra launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday night as the Fort Myers Miracle opened a four-game homestand with a 2-1 win over the Florida Fire Frogs at Hammond Stadium.

Lachlan Wells (1-1) was stellar in his home debut, striking out eight Frogs over seven innings without allowing a run. Wells set down the first 13 batters he faced before Jonathan Morales pushed a bunt back to the mound for a base hit.

Tyler Pike was equally as good for the Fire Frogs, surrendering just two hits over six innings. In the seventh, Andres Santiago (0-2) gave up a single to Chris Paul, then retired the next two before facing Vavra. On a night where the ball had to be scalded in the humidity to leave the yard, Vavra launched a no-doubter into the berm in left.

Michael Theofanopoulos recorded a six-out save in relief of Wells. Ronald Acuna led off the top of the ninth with a solo home run to cut the Miracle lead in half, but Theofanopoulos shut the door against the heart of the lineup.

The Miracle (4-8) host the Fire Frogs (5-7) on Tuesday night.
