The Cape Coral Art League's Artist of the Month is Christine Dekkers. An opening reception with wine and hors d'oeuvres for the show to be held Thursday, April 6, 5-7 p.m.
Featured is "The Hancock," one of Dekkers' largest impressionistic paintings, a 6-foot by 8-foot depiction of the Hancock building in Chicago. She said she was inspired by its architecture, having the support structure on the outside of the building. It is to scale and it took more than four months to complete.
Her other works will be Plein AIr of the local area. She will also have three new abstract painted artworks based on topography with the longitude and latitude readings in the library's Media Mix Gallery show.
Christine Dekkers is the Cape Coral Art League's Artist of the Month for April. An opening reception for her exhibit will be held Thursday, April 6, from 5-7 p.m.

In addition, a Media Mix show also opens Thursday, with artist Peg Cullen serving as the judge. The artists' reception is also from 5-7 p.m
Cullen is a nationally known, award-winning artist with work in numerous exhibitions. She received her undergraduate degree at Eastern IIlinois University; post graduate work at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and the Univeristy of Wisconsin, Madison. She taught in the Illinois public school system for 29 years and has tought at various places in Illinois, including William Rainey Harper College, and in Wisconsin and Florida.
