The Florida Everblades head into their two-game weekend series with the Orlando Solar Bears nursing a 10-point lead in the ECHL's South Division standings over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
The Blades (40-20) have 12 games left in the regular season. Six are on home ice at Germain Arena and six are on the road. Fortunately, the Blades have been just as successful on the road (19-11) as they have been at home (21-9) this season.
Two teams in the Central Division have clinched playoff spots while the Everblades continue to close in on securing the division title.
Five of the last 12 games are against the Wawa Sunshine Cup rival Solar Bears, starting Friday and Saturday. The Blades close out the season with the Solar Bears on April 8 at Germain Arena.
The Blades have no more head-to-head matchups against Greenville, which has only nine games remaining in the season and is running out of chances to make another run at the top spot.
Brendan O'Donnell and Mitchell Heard scored two goals and an assist apiece Tuesday night in the Blades' 7-4 victory at Atlanta, giving them a 2-2 split on the road trip.
O'Donnell's backhanded shot got the Blades on the board. Logan Roe added a goal before O'Donnell got his second of the night.
Goaltender Anthony Peters stopped 40 of 44 shots faced.
