Chicago Beef & Dogs opens in Cape

Chicago Beef & Dogs LLC has opened at 3812 Skyline Blvd., in Cape Coral.

The restaurant offers authentic "Chicago-style" Vienna beef, Italian beef sandwiches and hot dogs, and hot giardiniera and more. The restaurant's "welcoming atmosphere" will take you back to the "good ol' days in Chicago," according to owners Rick and Bonnie Haas. "Our poppy seed buns and Maxwell Polish are classics."

'Pine Island Arts & Crafts Fair' at Island Conclave Art Gallery Feb. 25

Art collectors and gallery-goers won't want to miss visiting Island Conclave Fine Art Gallery and attending the "Pine Island Arts & Crafts Fair," from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 25.

Island Conclave, in Matlacha, promotes a "buy local" attitude, encouraging visitors to buy from local artists and artisans. At the "Pine Island Arts & Crafts Fair," the reach will be expanded into crafters as well as art demonstrations, and food. A sampling of Mel Meo's art as well as her Mullet Dogs, an authentic Pine Island favorite, can be expected with proceeds on the dogs going to the Pine Island Kiwanis scholarship program.

Sculptures made out of ancient shark's teeth, wood carvings made of teak, Florida-inspired metal work, colorful glass fusion, hand-crafted jewelry and paintings in every shape, medium and discipline, can be found in the spaces of the cozy gallery and during the arts and crafts fair, with outside spaces as well.

Island Conclave Gallery hosts at least one event per month, including monthly arts and crafts fairs during season, monthly artist exhibitions and other special events. Free cocktails and hors d'oeuvres are always served.

Bougainvillea Growers International of Pine Island recently introduced a new services division.

BGI Services features a team of licensed and certified technicians that will manage the health and beauty of clients' landscape using individualized care and treatment plans, according to company fliers.

BGI began in 1994 as a company growing and promoting the use of bougainvillea for local landscaping on 5 acres of land. As of 2012, the company expanded with wholesale nurseries totaling nearly 70 acres, according to the company website.

In 2008 the company began offering a fertilizer specifically formulated for bougainvillea, and then branched out with other specific fertilizers for Florida plants.

'Managing stress' topic of Women in Business meeting March 1

The Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce February Women in Business meeting, hosted by Gulf Coast Humane Society, will take place Wednesday, March 1, from 4-6 p.m., at 2010 Arcadia St., Fort Myers. Attendees will learn best practices for managing stress in the workplace from a panel featuring Alicia Allen of Spectrum Solutions, Jennifer Galloway of Gulf Coast Humane Society and Stefanie Swift of Stefanie Swift Therapy.
