Jeremy Dennis Comer, 37, a longtime resident of Cape Coral, passed away Friday, May 30, 2014, in Punta Gorda. He was born Sept. 30, 1976, in San Diego, Calif.
He was hired as a firefighter/EMT in 2003 for the city of Cape Coral. He worked for the Lehigh Acres Fire District and Collier County EMS prior to joining the Cape Coral Fire Department. His fellow firefighters and especially his crew loved Jeremy like a brother.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kari Comer of Cape Coral; parents, Patrick and Deborah Comer of Cape Coral; one brother, Seth (Jill) Comer of Cape Coral; one grandparent, Nannette Comer of Murrieta, Calif.; in-laws, Ben and Kathy Schanbeck, Amy and Adam Buteau and Katie Schanbeck; six nieces; two nephews; and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

He was known for his contagious smile, sense of humor and quiet, unassuming nature. He was especially loved by his nieces and nephews and they will have many memories of having fun with their "Uncle Jeremy." He was cherished by all and will be sorely missed.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 7, at Westin Tarpon Point, Rosen Ballroom, 5951 Silver King Blvd., Cape Coral.
