Norma Jean Monaghan, 94, of Cape Coral and Dayton, Ohio, passed away May 27, 2014. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, David E. Monaghan.
She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Terence E. (Susan), Jeffry D. (Alice), James T. (Susan), Kevin W. (Elizabeth) and Bryan M. (Linda); seven grandchildren, Brendan, Claire, Timothy, Patrick, Kenneth, Christie, and Kellee; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and extended family.
Mrs. Monaghan enjoyed reading and traveling well into her long life, even setting the age record for flying in a hot air balloon over the Serengeti in Africa.
The family would like to thank Jon Claeson, whom she affectionately called her "Sixth Son," for the many kindnesses he extended to her.
The family received friends on Sunday June 1, at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home, 5555 Philadelphia Drive, at North Main Street, Dayton, Ohio. The service was held Monday, June 2, at the funeral home. Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Brunner Literacy Center, Dayton, Ohio.
