Storm Smart Building Systems to provide
hurricane protection package for PACE Center for Girls
Storm Smart Building Systems, a corporation of The Smart Companies in Fort Myers, has donated the materials, manufacturing and installation of a complete hurricane protection package for PACE Center for Girls of Lee County at 3800 Evans Ave. in Fort Myers, announced Joseph Francioni, senior vice president of the company.
Approximately 1,400 square feet of Storm Catcher Hurricane Wind Abatement Screen represents a $15,000 value for the nonprofit that provides counseling and academic services for girls' ages 12-18 who are facing a variety of life-changing challenges.
The donation for the nearly 16,000-square-foot, single-story building is part of The Smart Companies' ongoing "We Care" community initiative that has benefitted a number of nonprofits over the years.
Storm Smart created the storm protection package using its recently purchased Aeronaut Elektron Laser ZX high-powered, water-cooled laser that was the subject of a visit by Florida Governor Rick Scott at The Smart Companies' headquarters last week. The nearly $300,000 machine is the only one of its kind in Southwest Florida
Built in 1977, the PACE Center building was renovated in 2001 and occupied by the nonprofit group earlier this year.

Pitkin new-construction sales
specialist for Elysium Homes
Mike Pitkin has joined Elysium Homes of Cape Coral and Marco Island as the custom homebuilder's new-construction sales specialist, announced President Irina Prell.
Pitkin joins Elysium Homes after 26 years of serving in the U.S. Navy in both enlisted and commissioned officer ranks, retiring as a lieutenant commander. He was a submariner and a surface warfare officer during his time in the Navy. In addition to his duties at Elysium Homes, Pitkin owns Red Tug Tours where he takes potential real estate investors and owners on local cruises of the canals and waterways of Cape Coral and Fort Myers so they can see their property from the water and view the waterways that get them to the Gulf of Mexico.
