Steven Joseph Martin, 47, a Cape Coral resident for the last 26 years, formerly of Waltham, Mass., passed Friday, May 16, 2014, in Cape Coral. He was born Aug. 7, 1967, in Waltham.
He was a professional wheelchair tennis player who competed in the U.S. Open and the Paralympics for team USA. Afterwards he became a tennis instructor at the Cape Coral Yacht Club where he taught men, women and children the sport that he loved. He was active in the community and in the local wheelchair tennis club.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Janice Martin of Cape Coral; his father, Cornelius (Donna) Martin of Okeechobee, Fla.; a sister, Mary Jean Martin of Fort Myers; a brother, James Paul Martin, also of Fort Myers; as well as a niece, Courtney Messenheimer of Boston.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, May 30, at Hope Hospice Chapel, 2430 Diplomat Parkway East, Cape Coral, with Chaplain Daniel Antle officiating.
