Elnora Carter Russell, 79, of Cape Coral, formerly Washington, D.C., and Champaign, Ill., passed Thursday, May 15, 2014, at 11:30 a.m., at Cape Coral Hospital.
She was born in Wayne County, Ill., Aug. 18, 1934, to Johnnie R. Carter and Eva (Melrose) Carter. She attended school in Flora, Ill., and Urbana High School, graduating from there in 1953.
She married the love of her life, Thomas R. Russell, in Washington, D.C., Aug. 14, 1976. They had many wonderful years together.

Her husband survives her along with her siblings, Frank Carter of St. Joseph, Ill., Ken Carter (Fran) of Sidney, Ill., Sharon Brost and John D. Carter of Champaign, Ill., Lynda Matejkowski (Dale) of Mahomet, Ill.; and daughter, Sherry Liebovich (Rick) of Salenos, Calif.
She was preceeded in death by her parents and brothers, Russell Carter, Carroll Carter, Larry Carter and Jerry Carter; sister- in-law, Louella Carter; and brother-in-law, Paul Brost.
Mrs. Russell worked early in her career for Dr. Hesselswerdt and did modeling in Champaign prior to moving to Washington, D.C., where she acquired the position of building manager at the elite Shoreham West condominiums for 10 years until retirement at age 53. S he and her husband Tom retired to Cape Coral, where they enjoyed life as travelers, members of the Moose, German American Club and Elks.
She was devoted to her husband, home and two dogs. She enjoyed yard work, fishing and family visits. She was rightfully proud of her life accomplishments, her ability to decorate and her meticulous yard.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Memorial services will take place at a later date in Champaign, Ill.
