JUPITER - The Palm Beach Cardinals completed a three-game sweep of the Fort Myers Miracle Saturday night with a 10-3 win.
The Cardinals jumped on Miracle starter Alex Wimmers in the first inning. Palm Beach put up five runs on four hits. David Washington knocked in two with a double. Breyvic Valera and Casey Rasmus registered RBI singles and Starling Rodriguez scored on a Wimmers (2-1) wild pitch.
Lasting just 3 2/3 innings, Wimmers gave up another run in the third on an RBI double by Ildemaro Vargas. Wimmers threw 97 pitches, 51 strikes, while allowing six runs, three earned, on six hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
The Miracle picked up a run in each of the third and fifth innings. In the third, Levi Michael tripled and Aderling Mejia plated him with a sacrifice fly to left. In the fifth, Stuart Turner doubled with two outs and scored on a base hit up the middle by Michael.
Michael finished 4-for-5 with a triple, run scored, RBI and has now registered multiple hits in each of the last five games.
Fort Myers got one more run in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Travis Harrison. In the bottom of the inning, Anthony Garcia launched a three-run homer off Madison Boer to put the game out of reach 10-3.
Kyle Helisek picked up the win for the Cardinals. Helisek (2-1) went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits.
The Miracle (16-13) return to Hammond Stadium at 4:05 p.m. Sunday to open a three-game series with the Bradenton Marauders.
