May programs set at Cape Coral Lee County Public Library

Next month's roster of activities at Cape Coral Lee County Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

ADULTS

English Caf

10 a.m., Fridays, May 2, 9, 16, 23, 30

6 p.m., Tuesdays, May 6, 13, 20, 27

Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Participants may start at any time. Advanced registration is not necessary.

Craft Corner: Knitting and Crocheting

3:30 p.m., Mondays, May 5, 12, 19

3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 27

Get creative and make a handmade treasure. Instruction and materials will be provided for newcomers, or bring a project to work on. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library.

Chess Anyone?

5:30 p.m., Tuesdays, May 6, 13, 20, 27

Rise to the chess challenge and join in the fun. Bring a personal chess set, if preferred. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Library.

So You Want to Be a Contractor

3 p.m., Friday, May 9

Unemployment is at an all time high, yet the U.S. government continues to grow and needs support from contractors. Learn the basics of working in government defense contracting.

Download Library e-Books to the iPad

1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13

Library staff will demonstrate how to download e-books to the iPad. Patrons need to bring their iPad, Apple password and username and USB cord as well as their library card and pin number. Registration is required.

Baby-Parent Rhyme Time

10 a.m. Thursday, May 1

Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants. Registration is required.

Kids Read Down Fines

6-7 p.m., Mondays, May 5, 12, 19

Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading, during the allotted time. A total of $8 per day may be earned. For ages 18 and younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only. Bring your library card with you. Your library card or library card number is required in order to access your account.
