Locke earns Starwood's Group

Sales Manager of the Year award

In the first full year as a Starwood resort, The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village is far exceeding sales expectations thanks to Group Sales Manager Andrea Locke. She took home the award for Group Sales Manager of the Year at Starwood Hotel & Resorts' annual sales kick-off meeting in San Diego last month.

Locke successfully exceeded group sales goals for the resort, the only Westin resort in Southwest Florida, by an impressive 158 percent in the under $2 million category and was one of only five sales managers, out of over 2,500, recognized with this honor.

In addition to exceeding personal sales goals, Locke also surpassed new business targets by 137 percent and TeamHOT goals by 600 percent. This success is made even more impressive as she only recently joined the field of hotel sales in 2011 following a successful 10-year career in hospitality human resources. As part of her award, Locke also received an all-expense paid trip for two to St. Maarten.

With over 25,000 square feet of functional meeting space, including four new breakout rooms, The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village offers a variety of options to accommodate groups of up to 500.

In celebration of its 40th anniversary, the associates of Action Automatic Door & Gate presented the inaugural George F. Ebel IV Award of Excellence to the business's namesake during a recent anniversary celebration. Ebel was caught off-guard as he was unaware of the initiative.

Smart Companies of Southwest Florida

acquires Aeronaut Elektron Laser ZX

Smart Companies of Southwest Florida has acquired an Aeronaut Elektron Laser ZX high-powered, water-cooled laser for cutting and edge-sealing industrial textiles such as storm-protection fabrics, announced John McEnroe, vice president of business development. It is reportedly the only one of its kind in Southwest Florida.

The machine is used to cut the Storm Catcher and Gladiator brands of screening materials that are needed to produce storm-protection products for windows, doors and large openings to help protect a building during hurricanes. The laser cutter makes it possible to increase production, efficiency and cost-effectiveness, while reducing waste in terms of excess fabrics.

The $250,000 investment is aimed at getting more materials to hundreds of wholesale dealers domestically and internationally who rely on Storm Smart's manufacturing process. Fabrics cut will also be used locally for Storm Smart's residential and commercial clients. The acquisition is just one part of the company's operations strategy to fully automate its processes.

The Smart Companies offers products and services related to storm protection, home technology, energy efficiency and solar solutions for residential and commercial customers throughout Southwest Florida, the Caribbean, Mexico and Guam. The company's family of enterprises includes Storm Smart Building Systems, Storm Catcher and GoEnergySmart, all located at 11040 Plantation Road in Fort Myers.

Uniquely Made For More open for business

On March 28, Uniquely Made For More, a home-based gift basket business, was launched. James said Uniquely Made For More was founded on the premise that God created the human race as an original work of art and onto each individual "canvas" He liberally, yet selectively, splashed a variety of qualities, skills and talents of great potential. When these colorful gifts are utilized to their maximum potential, they have the ability to transform each 'canvas' into a beautiful masterpiece.

Gift baskets range in prices from $15 and up. The company offers local delivery and ships nationwide.
