David Covington "Dan" Daniel, 69, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away on April 1, 2014 at his home in Cape Coral, Fla.
Born in Washington, D.C. to parents Wilson and Mary Jo Daniel, Dan received his Bachelor's Degree from Lynchburg College in VA and spent his entire career in Management working for C&P Telephone, now Verizon. He worked and raised his family in Fairfax, VA, and relocated to Virginia Beach and Cape Coral in 2011 for retirement.
Dan, also known as "POTZ" by his grandchildren, had a passion for life. The Daniel home was always full of love, laughter, and sports. His daughters were active in swimming and soccer where he coached each daughter then went on to coach nationally ranked girls' soccer teams. He spent 27 years coaching for Braddock Road Youth Club Girls Soccer. He was an all American man who loved Budweiser, Coca Cola, hot dogs, key lime pie, beautiful beaches and sunsets. He was a loyal DC sports fan, especially the Washington Redskins. He never missed a game. He will be remembered for his huge smile, big laugh, and dry sense of humor.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Dennis "Denny" Ann Daniel; three daughters, Dianne Daniel Black, Doreen Daniel Evans, and DeEtte Jo Daniel; eight grandchildren, Austin, Cori, and Daniel Black, Teddy, Will, and Robby Evans, Raegan and Jackson Weis.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Fairfax Memorial on April 12 at 1 pm in Fairfax, Virginia.
