Gators sail past Red Knights 5-1

Nikko Rodriguez drove in three runs with two base hits, including a double, Friday night to help spark Island Coast to a 5-1 victory over North Fort Myers.

Quinn Bourque (3-0) tossed a complete game, allowing four base hits while striking out nine to earn the victory on the mound. Zach Lackman contributed an RBI single to the cause.

"Tonight was the difference between preseason and the regular season," said Gators coach Clint Montgomery.

Mariner 9, Cypress Lake 4: Mike Patton (2-0) pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing one earned run with five strikeouts to help Mariner beat Cypress Lake Friday night.

The Tritons had four guys with two hits apiece, led by Luis Ferrer (2-for-4) with a double and two RBI. Michael Laborde, Victor Marrero and Mason Eicher were the other teammates with two hits.

Cape Coral 6, Lely 0: Cape Coral snapped a scoreless game by scoring six runs in the sixth inning in Friday's shutout win at Lely.

Shane McClanahan started on the mound for the Seahawks and struck out 11 over five innings. Jarid Laukaitis struck out three in two innings of relief to pick up the win.

Kyle Arjona led the Seahawks with three hits and two RBI. Matt Richey added two hits and Justin Slater one base hit. Jose Valmana finished with two RBI.

Fort Myers 9, Riverdale 2: Tim Winter (3-0) tossed five-plus innings allowing two hits and striking out three to help Fort Myers beat Riverdale Friday night.

Andy Gundell led the offense with two hits, including a double, and drove in four runs. Zach Lecius contributed two hits, a double and one RBI.

Mariner 10, North Fort Myers 7: Mariner capitalized on North's nine errors to swipe a victory Thursday night despite being outhit 11-6.

Luis Ferrer led the Tritons with two hits while Logan Hanick and Nick Gallant each contributed a double. Tim Watters (2-0) earned the win with 4 1/3 innings of work with three strikeouts while allowing four earned runs.


Cape Coral 5, Lely 2: Makenzie Buss doubled and scored a run while also striking out seven to pick up her fifth win on the mound Friday night as Cape Coral held off Lely.

Mallory Guerrero contributed a base hit, a run and a stolen base for the Seahawks (5-4).

Mariner 9, Cypress Lake 4: Heather Gillions led Mariner with two hits and Lindsey Nelson doubled to back the complete-game pitching of Kaylyn Friday to beat Cypress Lake on Friday.

Oasis 19, Everglades City 6: Oasis improved to 3-3 on the season Friday with their second straight win.

Kaylee Morris led the Sharks with three doubles and two RBI. Tori Gonring, Crystal Monahan and Jenny Hernandez each contributed base hits to back winning pitcher Katie O'Connor, who tossed a no-hitter in Thursday's 17-2 win over Seacrest.

North Fort Myers 15, Mariner 0: Despite playing in a persistent light rain, Mackenzie Peterson doubled and drove in a run in addition to tossing a four-inning, one-hit shutout Thursday to pound Mariner.

Summer Ackerson led the Red Knights with a two-run double and three total RBI while Sarah Waitekus contributed two hits with a pair of RBI. The win is Peterson's sixth on the mound without a loss.

Lindsey Nelson had Mariner's lone base hit. Kaylyn Friday took the loss on the mound for the Knights (8-0).

Lehigh 9, Cape Coral 1: Makenzie Buss went 2-for-4 with a triple and scored Cape's only run in a loss Thursday night to Lehigh.

Ashley Wagner also had two base hits, including a double for the Seahawks.
