Seahawks open with 1-0 win

Cape High's traditional Early Bird Tournament rank in a new season Monday night at Terry Park with the host Seahawks pulling out a 1-0 victory over Naples.

Terry Pates' sac-fly plated Matt Richey with the game-winning run in the fourth inning and the Seahawks held on for the season-opening win.

The Seahawks managed just four hits, including one each by Richey, Dillon Bontrager, Brandon Pryor and Kyle Arjona. Arjona also was the winning pitcher for the Seahawks (1-0), who face Estero Tuesday in the second round of the Early Bird Tournament.

Estero 11, Ida Baker 7: Ida Baker battled back from an early deficit to take a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning, but Estero answered with five runs in the sixth to take command Monday night in the first round of the Cape Coral Early Bird Tournament at Terry Park.

Cameron Farmer led the Bulldogs with two hits, including a double, and a pair of RBI with Trevor Moore contributing two hits and one RBI. Austin Maimone took the loss on the mound.

The Bulldogs (0-1) face Naples Tuesday in the second round of the tournament.

(Boys) North Fort Myers 5, Oasis 2

Singles - Josh Mammott (O) def. Ryan Mazon 6-4, 6-2; Connor McCarley (NFM) def. Marshall Hess 6-1, 6-1; Logan Labanna (NFM) def. Andrew Sieber 6-4, 6-3; North won by forfeit; North won by forfeit.

Doubles - Mammott-Hess (O) def. Gin Zaliauskas-Tempe Zaliauskas 8-3; North won by forfeit.

Exhibition Doubles - Nick Hulfeld (NFM)-Sieber (O) def Peter Simon-McCarley 9-8.
