To the editor:
This letter is to the thief who stole the girl's bicycle the other day from our garage in the northwest Cape. I hope you're enjoying it because you paid a high price for it. The cost of the bike is minimal and it will be replaced, but in committing this burglary, you did more than just steal a bike. You took from me my feelings of safety, security and trust I had living here. But even more important, I feel sorry for you as I think about how you can look at yourself in the mirror knowing what you did and how you could possibly enjoy something you stole. You will have to live with what you did for a long time and if you're just a kid, you're going down the wrong path and will eventually end up paying the consequences.
So you see, you may have ruined my day but you've ruined your life.
