Cape Coral and Mariner, which have waged some classic battles on the soccer field over the years, could be on course for yet another confrontation next Friday in the District 3A-13 Tournament at Mariner.

If the No. 1 seeded Seahawks (17-2-1) are to meet the No. 2 seeded Tritons (14-2-4), it would be for the district championship. Both will have to win two matches just to get to the title game.

The Seahawks open up at 3 p.m. Monday against bottom seed East Lee County with the winner advancing to the semifinals on Wednesday against the winner between 4-5 seeds Lemon Bay and North Fort Myers.

The Tritons open against No. 7 seed Island Coast at 7 p.m. Monday with the winner advancing to the semifinals against 3-6 seeds Ida Baker and South Fort Myers.

Over in District 2A-12, NO. 6 seed Oasis kicks off tournament action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at No. 3 seed Clewiston. The winner advances to the semifinals on Wednesday to face No. 2 seed and host LaBelle.

Top-seed Bishop Verot awaits the winner between Gateway Charter and Dunbar in the semifinal round on Wednesday. The championship game is 7 p.m. Friday at LaBelle.
