Dolores (Wareham) Gunderman

Dolores W. Gunderman, 89, of Estero, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Gulf Coast Village Retirement Center. She was born May 27, 1924, in Wheeling, W.Va.

She moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in the early 1940s. She worked for Taylor's Department Store and that is where she met and married the love of her life, Paul Gunderman, in May 1946. They remained in Cleveland where they established their home and family of seven children. In 1969, they moved to Cape Coral and opened their own custom home remodeling business known as "Paul J. Gunderman & Son Company," where they worked side by side until their retirement in the late 1980s.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 67 years, Paul, who just passed away Oct. 31, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory her seven children, Tom (Diane) of Cape Coral, Nancie (Bo) White of Cape Coral, Sally (Bill) Knight of Cape Coral, John (Audrey) of Cape Coral, Paula (Henri) Lafenetre of Cape Coral and Susan and Mary Ann Gunderman of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be open to friends Thursday, Jan. 9, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens on Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers. A memorial mass will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral Friday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m., and entombment will be at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Gunderman had a beautiful smile and a loving, gentle way about her. She touched many lives along her way through life. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
