Two new acquisitions are likely to join the Florida Everblades Friday night when they return home to open a two-game weekend series with the Colorado Eagles at Germain Arena.
The Everblades (13-7) are coming off a road trip to Michigan and Indiana where they won two of three games. The trip ended last Saturday with a 4-2 loss to the Fort Wayne Komets.
Monday the Blades agreed to terms with forward Will MacDonald and defenseman Tony DeHart.
MacDonald, 24, played six games for the Everblades in 2012-13 and contributed three goals after wrapping up a four-year NCAA Division I career at Princeton.
"Will's got good speed and is in great shape," said Blades coach Greg Poss. "Unfortunately, he was hurt to start this season, but now he's healthy and ready to get started. He will be a strong addition to our team."
DeHart, 23, played the last two seasons with the ECHL Western Conference's Stockton Thunder, amassing 42 points (9g, 33a) in 108 games. Florida acquired his contract rights in a September trade with the Thunder that also brought in veteran blueliner Mike Little.
"Tony was a mainstay of a Stockton team that made it all the way to the Kelly Cup Finals last season," added Poss, "so we look forward to adding his experience and expertise to our defensive corps."
The Blades split two games in Fort Wayne, winning 3-1 on Thanksgiving night, but fell behind early in the second period and could not recover in Saturday's 4-2 loss.
Blades forward Brandon MacLean, 26, is the ECHL's?Plus Performer of the Month for November after leading the league with a plus-minus rating of +13 during the month. He was even or better in 13 of 14 games in November.
