Fire alarm forces building evacuation

At around noon today, a report to the Cape Coral Fire Department of a fire alarm and odor of smoke on first floor of a building at 2503 Del Prado Blvd. forced the evacuation of the building. Fire officials indicated the cause of the alarm was due to mechanical work.

According to the Cape Fire Department, there were no hazards in the building and the first emergency responders were reassigned and the alarm was reset.

Both the Fire Department and Cape Coral Police responded to the scene. The building houses Avalon Engineering and BankUnited.
