The Lee County Band will awaken the joy and magic of the Christmas season in the young and young-at-heart when it presents its annual holiday concert on December 8. Featuring marching wooden soldiers and a Dixieland combo, the concert will take place at 3 p.m. at Cape Coral High School, 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd.
The program will include both secular and sacred Christmas music, including themes from Tschaikowsky's Nutcracker Suite, the overture to Handel's Messiah, Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, a Christmas medley by Leroy Anderson, Jingle Bells in Dixie, and a Christmas "Pop" sing-a-long.
Additional concerts are set for Jan. 12, Feb. 9, March 9, and April 6. The events are free (donations accepted) and open to the public; all will be at 3 p.m. at Cape Coral High School.
The director of the band is Richard Bradstreet and the emcee and vocalist is Normal Jones.
