Roy Alvin Wilhelmi, 89, of Cape Coral, quietly passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at his home. He moved to Cape Coral from Lakewood, Ohio, in 1965.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Herta.
He was a retired chief warrant officer of the United States Army having served in World War II and Korea. He also retired from the United States Postal Service. Mr. Wilhelmi was a lifelong member of the United States Philanthropic Society and active in the local stamp club. He was an important founder in the Veterans Foundation here in Cape Coral. Several pieces of his military memorabilia are on display at the organization's museum in south Cape Coral. He was a member of the American Legion Post 90 and the Moose Lodge 2199 both in Cape Coral.
He touched many lives and will be truly missed by his family, "daughters, sons and grandchildren."
Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Entombment with full military honors will follow. All are welcome to join the family after services to share memories and refreshments.
