Dawn Marie Torres, 58, resident of Cape Coral, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, in Cape Coral. She lost her battle was breast cancer. She was born March 13, 1955, in Passaic, N.J., to Donald and Shirley Becker. She was the sister of Bruce Becker, Donald Becker, the late Gary Becker, Kathy Ragusa and Eileen Takacs.
On March 15, 1975, she was married to her childhood sweetheart, Jesus "Manny" Torres. Together they had Michael and Lisa Torres, and four grandchildren, Jenna, Robert, Michael, and Victoria. She graduated for John F. Kennedy High School, Paterson, N.J., in 1973. As an adult, she attended William Paterson University and was studying psychology.
She worked in many different professional fields in her life. She was the first female letter carrier for the United States Post Office in the Boro of Ridgewood, N.J. From there she began a career in information technology with St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson and then moved to Cape Coral and continued her career with the Lee Memorial Health Systems.

Mrs. Torres had many hobbies that included costume making, scrapbooking, designer cake making, boating, any sporting event that her husband, kids or grandchildren were involved in, and she made a career out of spoiling her grandchildren. She mostly enjoyed those one-on-one vacations with her husband to places like Aruba, Las Vegas and Nashville, Tenn.
She was a fireman's wife, a cops (2) mother and a nurse's mom. She had a particular love and passion for Walt Disney World. From her first visit in 1976, she and her family vacationed there yearly and in 2008 became an owner in the Walt Disney World Vacation Club. Her passion for Disney was passed on to her children and grandchildren and will remain an annual vacation spot for them, forever.
She is survived by her mother, Shirley; husband, Manny; son, Michael; daughter, Lisa; daughter-in-law, Jennifer; grandchildren, Jenna, Robert, Michael and Victoria; brothers, Bruce and Donald; and sisters, Kathy and Eileen. She also had many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, brother and sisters-in-law, and so many others that she loved and adored, along with her dog, Minnie, and her grand-dogs, Daisy and Mickey.
Visitation will take place at Fuller Metz in Cape Coral today, Nov. 6, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Thursday, Nov. 7, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Cape Coral.
According to her wishes, the family asks that all who attend to please wear any shade of blue, in respect to her favorite color.
