Frederick L. Spahr, 89, of Cape Coral died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, peacefully at home. He was born May 1, 1924, in Greene County, Ohio, to Frederick W. and Sarah Spahr.
He married his childhood sweetheart in Bellbrook, Ohio, Dec. 24, 1946. He served as an elder in the Xenia, Ohio, congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for 17 years before coming to Florida in 1982. He continued to serve as an elder in the Cape Coral Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses until his death.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Phyllis Spahr; one son, David (Ronna) Spahr of Xenia, Ohio; daughters, Elaine Lingle of Cape Coral, Diana Stidham of Belle Center, Ohio, Debbie Parker of Cape Coral and Cindy (Randy) Zurface of Sabina, Ohio; one sister, Betty Ferguson of Upland, Calif.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He taught in the Dayton, Ohio, school system for 30 years before retiring to Florida in 1982. He was loved for his self-sacrificing spirit, given in behalf of his family, congregation and community.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 424 A Nicholas Parkway, Cape Coral.
