Change for the better

October 25, 2013
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

It is time for a change folks. I know, many of us are jaded by the fact that we elect representatives and we are disappointed in the outcome. They fail to live up to our expectations, or we just pick someone because "They aren't that other guy,"or "Vote them all out" mentality happens. I can share with you that come this election, I am voting in the District 4 race not to "get that other guy out of office." I am voting for the candidate I feel will best represent my neighbors in District 4, and who will make decisions for all of the City. It's time for a change, a fresh change, and here I can share I whole heartedly suggest we vote for Richard Leon, Candidate for District 4.

I met Richard several years ago on his campaign trail. I was impressed that at his young age, he had a good grasp on how the city should be governed. I loved that he wanted to put the people/public first. This is something near and dear to my heart. Since that time I have gotten to know Richard on many levels. I have seen him serve the community at events, participated in debates, listen to people who agree and disagree with him. He respects everyone and even in difficult situations he leads by example. The person I want to see lead and represent our District 4 community is Richard Leon. He isn't afraid to roll up his sleeves and get to work. He donated a week of his vacation time this summer, and served as a volunteer camp counselor for children with neuromuscular disease. He volunteers at events and helps raise money for people with muscular dystrophy and cancer. He didn't just do these acts for a campaign stunt. He maintains contact to this day to the camper he was matched with at the week-long overnight, summer camp. In fact, I can't think of a time when someone has asked him for help and he hasn't figured out a way to get involved. Imagine how he will help you when he is elected.

He is much more than a philanthropist. He cares so much about our city and he has great ideas to help us achieve and be more. He wants to develop businesses, and truly be there for business owners. He wants to include more people and he is willing to try new things to hear the people and help represent you. He isn't part of a pre-designed group, he is his own gentleman. Gentle-man with a lion's heart sums him up quite nicely. He is respectful, resourceful and genuine. For these reasons I positively share I will vote for Richard Leon, Candidate for District 4, City of Cape Coral. He's a leader, with a servant's heart.
