FGCU Hoops & Halloween

October 25, 2013
Special to the Breeze , Cape Coral Daily Breeze

FGCU basketball fans of all ages get an early look at this year's men's and women's basketball teams while also doing some Trick-or-Treating with members of the squads during the athletic department's family-friendly Hoops & Halloween event 4-6 p.m. on Saturday at Alico Arena.

Fans are encouraged to dress in their Halloween best as prizes for the best costume will be awarded. Those in attendance will have a chance to meet their favorite FGCU players, cheerleaders and the Most Valuable Mascot in the Atlantic Sun, Azul, during an open autograph and picture session.

Dunkin' Donuts is providing an array of Halloween-inspired donuts during the event and Costco is supplying cider.

Candy will be handed out by coaches, players and athletic department staff during a Trick-or-Treat tour through Alico Arena, including both teams' locker rooms.

The schedule of events includes the women's team scrimmage and the men hosting a series of skills drills with children. Throughout the event the teams will showcase their talents in three-point and dunk shows.

Doors open at 3:30 p.m. and admission is free. In addition, fans who purchased season tickets will be able to pick them up at the arena ticket office during the event. Additionally, mini-packs and individual game tickets may be purchased at the ticket office.

This event is the last chance fans have to catch a glimpse of the men's and women's teams before the regular season starts on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Last wseek the men held a season tip-off event at Community School in Naples, and on Friday the men and women participated in FGCU's Midnight Madness event, Dunk City After Dark with portions airing nationally on ESPNU.
