Richard (Dick) Klusman was born on 1 July 1928 in Detroit, Michigan.
He served in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. His first tour of duty was on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific and his last tour of duty was in Key West, Florida where he met and married his wife Marjory in 1955. Dick then held many engineering positions in civil service for the Navy.
His last position was as the Director of Engineering in Norfolk VA as Atlantic Division Naval Facilities Engineering Command. He interacted and visited many of the US Navy bases throughout the world. He was awarded the Meritorious Civilian Award from the Department of the Navy. On retirement, he and his wife moved back south where he spent 10 years as the City engineer for the city of Fort Myers; retiring in 1997. Until his passing, Dick and Marjory lived in Cape Coral with their beloved pug Matey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Regina Klusman; his son, George Klusman; his sister, Rosemarie Klusman. He is survived by his wife Marjory (Gomez) Klusman; daughter-in-law Avis Klusman, granddaughter Crystal Klusman and step-granddaughter Tammy (Davy) Munoz; his son Richard Keith (Marie) Klusman, grandchildren Matthew, Marilyn, and Sam Klusman; and his 2 brothers, Robert Klusman and Michael Klusman.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Church on Friday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m.
