Bulldogs stop city, district rival

Ida Baker improved its position in the District 6A-11 standings Tuesday night with a straight-set win over city rival Island Coast at the Dog Pound.

Ashley Vargas led the Bulldogs to a 25-18, 25-19, 25-22 victory with eight kills and four service aces. Amanda Gross delivered seven kills with six aces and four digs with Kristina Kayatte adding seven kills, five aces and five digs. Lindsey Rounsifer contributed a season-high 19 assists.

For the Gators, Jennifer Fasano led the way with eight kills, nine digs and two service aces. Julia Rose added two kills, two digs and nine assists.

The Gators (5-8) play at Riverdale Thursday while the Bulldogs (11-5, 2-1 district) entertain East Lee County.

Lely 3, Cape Coral 0: Few highlights for Cape High Tuesday night in its 25-15, 25-17, 25-9 loss at Naples Lely.

Alayshia Henry contributed six blocks while Danielle Smith made 12 digs for the Seahawks (6-6), who host Cypress Lake on Thursday.

LaBelle 3, Oasis 0: LaBelle claimed a hard-fought match over Oasis 25-15, 25-22, 27-25 Tuesday.

Larra Bickelhaupt led the Sharks with nine kills and one service ace. Emma Nelson added three aces with 22 assists.

The Sharks (10-5) host Gateway Charter Thursday night.

North Fort Myers 3, First Baptist 0: North Fort Myers weathered a late charge in Tuesday's 25-17, 25-13, 25-22 win over First Baptist Academy.

Madison Prusak led the Red Knights with eight kills and 23 digs, Lindsey Stremel added nine kills and two blocks. Bailey Harris contributed 13 digs while Julie Scherer handed out 24 assists to go with five digs.

The Knights (7-6) play at Fort Myers Thusday.

Bishop Veort 3, Dunbar 0: Lauren Homolka and Alena Hernandez delivered nine service aces apiece Tuesday night to help lead Bishop Verot to a straight-set 25-6, 25-7, 25-8 rout at Dunbar.

Ashlyn Brown came through with a team-high 10 kills to go with 10 assists for the Vikings (11-3), who host district rival LaBelle on Thursday.

Bowling

Mariner 3, South Fort Myers 2: Mariner's Quinn Mossey rolled a season-high game of 245 and got enough scoring help from Justin Williams and Mike Laborde Tuesday to pull out a 3-2 victory over South Fort Myers.

The Tritons host Cape Coral Thursday at Coal Lanes.
