To the editor:
During the last city election cycle I wrote a guest opinion imploring voters to look beyond campaign rhetoric and vague answers. I asked candidates to learn the issues BEFORE choosing to run and to provide real solutions. Simply providing empty catch phrases or saying "I'll look into it" or "I will need to research it" would not be acceptable.
Fortunately, in 2013, we have a candidate for Mayor that has gone far beyond the others in providing a detailed, realistic plan of action. Dan Ashby has created a 50-point blueprint that will lead Cape Coral into the future while still addressing present day concerns. Details matter and Dan Ashby has provided plenty. Dan's plan covers five key areas; Economic Development, Fiscal Responsibility, Quality of Life, Public Safety and Operational Efficiencies. Although you may not agree with all 50 points, only Dan has had the courage to put his plan out there for the public to dissect. Only Dan has taken the time to thoroughly research Cape Coral's issues and offer solutions.
I encourage you to demand real answers from the candidates and to vote based upon who can provide them. With this idea in mind, I will be voting for Dan Ashby as the next Mayor of Cape Coral.
