Next month's roster of activities at Cape Coral Lee County Public Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

ADULTS

Chess Anyone?

5:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24

Rise to the chess challenge and join the fun. Everyone is welcome. Bring a personal chess set or use the library's. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Lee County Public Library.

English Caf

6 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24

10 a.m. Fridays, Sept. 6, 13, 20, 27

Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Participants may start at any time. Advanced registration is not necessary.

Craft Corner: Knitting

and Crocheting

3:30 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30

Bring ideas to light and make a handmade treasure. Materials will be provided for newcomers, or bring a project to work on.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Lee County Public Library. Registration is requested.

Books & Banter

9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24

This is an open forum book discussion. Come and share a favorite book or author. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Lee County Public Library.

Family Storytime

10 a.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24

9 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25

This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes.

Baby-Parent Rhyme Time

10:15 a.m. Wednesdays,

Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25

Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants.

Meet Trouper the Raccoon!

2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5

Meet Trouper the blind raccoon. Hear his amazing story, written by author Miss Kyle Miller, and meet his caretaker, Miss Dot Lee. Learn how students can become certified teachers in the Wildlife Education Program and get a picture taken with Trouper! All ages are welcome. Sponsored by the Friends of the Cape Coral Public Library. Registration is required. Pick up free tickets at the library or register online.

CHILDREN

Preschool Storytime

11 a.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 3, 10, 17, 24

11 a.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 4, 11, 18, 25

Preschoolers (ages 3 to 5) attend this storytime independently while parents or caregivers wait nearby in the library building. This storytime includes activities that require more participation and a longer attention span. Each preschool storytime lasts about 30 minutes. Registration is required.

Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading, during the allotted time. A total of $8 per day may be earned. For ages 18 and younger. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only.

Just Dance: Disney Party!

Tuesday, Sept. 17

2 - 3 p.m. - Grades K-5

3 4 p.m. - Tweens (ages 10 12)

Visit the Cape Coral Public Library and Just Dance, Disney style! Choose from 25 classic and trendy songs from favorite Disney movies and television shows. Registration is required. A sign-up sheet will be available two weeks prior to the event at the library. Registration is for 15 minutes of play per person with two players at a time.

TEENS

Black Out Poetry

4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26

Create a poem by using the technique of blacking out words from an existing page of text. Share the poem with the group if so desired.
