The Fort Myers Miracle are looking to gain some ground on the leaders in the Florida State League's South Division standings as they stare at a seven-game road trip to the east coast.
With 24 games remaining on the schedule, the Miracle (22-20, 67-42 overall) are in fourth place in the standings, but just three games behind the first-place Palm Beach Cardinals (25-17). The Charlotte Stone Crabs (24-17), who the Miracle played Thursday night and again on Friday at Hammond Stadium, sit second in the standings just one-half game behind.
Fort Myers visits Jupiter for three games, St. Lucie for three games and one at Bradenton over the next seven days before returning to Hammond Stadium Aug. 17.
The Miracle and Stone Crabs game Wednesday night was postponed by rain and will be made up later this month as a doubleheader in Port Charlotte.
Going into Thursday's game, the Miracle enjoyed a 10-2 mark against the Stone Crabs. In fact, the Miracle won its first eight games against the Crabs. The teams have four games remaining after Friday.
Of the teams ahead of them in the standings, the Miracle still have 14 games to try to take the lead and win their second division title of the season.
