Medina takes 2-shot lead

There is a new leader in the boys' 16-18 year-old division of the 21st Henke/Berg Junior Masters golf tournament at Cypress Lake Country Club today as the third and final round tees off just before 8 a.m.

Jovian Medina of Port Charlotte shot a round of 75 Thursday to take sole possession of a two-stroke lead over Brandon Meyer of Lehigh at 150. First-round co-leader Martin Jensen of Bronxville, N.Y., soared to a 78 to come in three strokes back at 151. Jensen and Medina shared the first-round lead with 73s.

Ida Baker grad Anthony Myers is four strokes back at 152 after carding 74-78 in the first two rounds.

Defending boys' 13-15 year-old division champion Landon Weber of Fort Myers holds the 36-hole lead with a 139 score. He turned in the tournament's only score below 70 Thursday with a 69.

He took a 17-stroke lead into Friday's final round over second-place Shane Reynolds at 156 and Cole Connor at 158. Cape Coral's Christopher Spoone is 20 strokes back at 159.

Emily Black of Naples has a two-round total score of 154 and enjoys a three-stroke lead over Brittany LaPadula. Cape Coral's Brittany Shin is tied for third at 162. Shin won the girls' division last year over Black.
