Francis W. Sayles, 94, of Cape Coral passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, at home. He was a resident of Cape Coral for the last nine years.
Born in Providence, R.I., on Feb. 6, 1919, he was the son of Frank C. and Mary A. (De Cunto) Sayles.
He was the husband of Louise (Benson) Sayles for the past 20 years and the late Dorothy L. (McSoley) Sayles for many years.
Mr. Sayles was an Army infantry veteran of World War II serving in South Africa and Italy. His regiment was company G 361st.
When Mr. Sayles lived in Rhode Island, he was a communicant of St. Thomas Church, located on Fruit Hill Avenue in Providence. There he serves as president of the Holy Name Society. He also served on the church and school financial board and as a eucharistic minister.
He enjoyed watching Yankees baseball, music, dancing, bowling and spending time with family and friends He will be sadly missed by all.
He was the brother of the late Frederick G., Robert C. and Anthony P. Sayles.
He leaves a daughter, Pamela J. (Russell) Benson of Florida; four sons, Francis W. Sayles Jr. of West Warwick, R.I., James M. Sayles of Bristol, R.I., Frederick G. (Lori) Sayles of Johnston, R.I. and Joseph P. (Sandra) Sayles of North Providence, R.I.; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Janice Sayles, wife of Francis W. Jr.
