Elizabeth D. Skerl, formerly of Pittsburgh, gently passed away at her daughter's home in Cape Coral Saturday, June 15, 2013. She was the daughter of Mildred and John Kern, having been brought into this world on Aug. 24, 1917.
She moved from her home in Pittsburgh to live in Florida six years ago, where she enjoyed the sunshine, gardening, shopping, movies, lunch with the ladies at "the club" and keeping her daughter, Alex, company. She took great pleasure there in spoiling Princess Wilma, the cat. She was a kind soul, with never a mean word toward anyone, and she could make all green things, flower and flourish better than anyone. She lived a good, gentle, and long life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 1993; two sisters, Emma and Mary; her granddaughter, Candace; and her son-in-law, Ralph LaPera.
Elizabeth D. Skerl
Surviving are her son, Paul (Jane) Skerl of Allison Park, Pa.; her daughter, Alex of Cape Coral; a sister, "Millie" of Plum Borough, Pa.; nieces; a nephew; and many, many friends, both North and South. She would be quick to say though, that she got too old and all her friends were gone, but she always made new friends.
A service of Blessing was held at Soxman Funeral Home Roth Chapel, 7450 Saltsburg Rd., Pittsburgh, Thursday, June 20, at noon. Internment immediately followed at Plum Creek Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Elizabeth's name to Hope Hospice 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908.
