Gary Altini, 54, of Cape Coral, formerly of Pittsfield, Mass., and Staten Island, N.Y., passed away Friday, May 10, 2013, in Cape Coral. He was born Nov. 12, 1958, in Staten Island, N.Y., to Albert and Rose Altini, now deceased.
He was a member and volunteer of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. He was a kind, and caring father, husband and friend. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and was quick to assist anyone in need.
Mr. Altini was retired from the New York City Department of Transportation where he worked until 1995. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed pastel landscape painting and photography.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Colleen Altini; two children, Christian and Matthew Altini; Buddy the Lab; and Kitty the cat.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 18, at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 1922 S.W. 20 Ave., Cape Coral, with Father John Deary officiating. A reception will follow hosted by Iris and John Hanney of Cape Coral.
Monetary contributions are suggested to the children's education fund in care of Mullins Memorial, 1056 N.E. 7th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
