Mary M. Wandless, 95, also known as "Mary Martha Mason from Meadow Mountain Maryland." Born Dec. 4, 1917, in Swanson, Md., she lived and raised her family in Cumberland, Md. She moved to Cape Coral in 1966, where she was employed at Gulf American Land Corp, Jimbo's Restaurant and was a "foster grandparent" at North Fort Myers Academy of the Arts, where she was loved by the children who called her "Ms. Mary."
Reflecting back to early adulthood, she firmly believed in always looking her best 24/7, known for her fashion sense, she wore high heels even at her age of 95. Staying true to her belief, she enjoyed every chance to be in the presence of those younger than she. Her warm personality was a reflection of her inner beauty.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Stephen (Myna) Wandless, Carolyn (Al) Levy, Marsha (Michael) Sprankel and Kathryn Wilson; nine grandchildren,; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mary M. Wandless
She always looked forward to having fellowship and laughter with her close friends. Her longtime pal was her cat "Miss Kitty." A special appreciation goes to Ann Bala and Marie Sinatra for the care and comfort for Mary during her illness.
Her greatest joy and peace was found serving the Lord at Fort Myers Christian Outreach Center, with Pastor Lynn Bracco and members. She is with the Lord now; she is just one step ahead of us. She leaves us with these words: Give your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and serve him with gladness. In the good times and bad, he will always be your best friend.
Donations in her memory can be sent to Fort Myers Christian Outreach Center, 3500 Fowler St., Fort Myers, FL 33901. "Reaching out to feed and clothe those in need."
A private family memorial will be held on Mother's Day.
