Ida Baker and Island Coast have been playing the waiting game this week - waiting to play their Region 6A-4 quarterfinal playoff opponents.

Baker's game at Naples and Island Coast's home game with Gulf Coast, originally scheduled for Wednesday, were postponed Wednesday and Thursday by rain. They will try again at 7 p.m. Friday.

At press time, the start of the Cape Coral Seahawks' Region 5A-4 quarterfinal game Thursday at Estero was being delayed until 8 p.m.

The Seahawks (15-10) are trying to forget all about their District 5A-13 championship game loss to Cypress Lake last week when they had a four-run lead with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Cypress rallied to score all five of its runs in the inning to shock the Seahawks 5-4.

The loss forces the Seahawks to play at least their first two regional games on the road.
