Marie Janet Pavel, 96, of Cape Coral passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Hope Hospice.

She was born in Moline, Ill., in 1917 to Edward and Bertha Granquist. A pioneer of Cape Coral, she moved here in 1962 where she worked for Gulf American Corporation, the original developers of Cape Coral. She retired in 1987 after 25 years.

She was an avid bowler and a founding member of Diplomat Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include her two sons, Jimmy Pavel and Larry (Renae) Pavel, both of Cape Coral; six grandchildren, Troy, Laraina, Susan, Steve, Tim and Mike; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Joan Condreay.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday May 2, at Fuller Metz Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
