Robert "Bob" Francis Haas III, 83, a Cape Coral resident since 1987, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away at his home Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Cape Coral. He was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Pittsburgh, to Robert and Loretta Haas, II, now deceased.
He was raised in Etna, Pa., where the whole family was involved at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He worked at the family business until joining the Navy and was a Korean War veteran. He began his lengthy career as a traffic auditor and worked hard to support his family in Crafton, Pa., and then later in Florida. He retired briefly but missed working so much that he returned to auditing until he could no longer work. He was cared for at home by his devoted wife until his passing.
Mr. Haas is survived by his beloved wife of over 40 years, Barbara Haas of Cape Coral; four loving children, Michael (Rosemarie) Haas of Pittsburgh, Michelle Duncan of Wilton Manors, Fla., Dian Ramsey and her husband Evan Ziegler of Cape Coral and Robert Haas IV of Fort Myers; a sister, Marlene (Merle) Beyerl of Glenshaw, Pa.; a brother, Herbert (Eileen) Haas, also of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren that he adored, Brittany Villalobos Diaz, Brooke Jones, Rachel Haas, Zachary Duncan and Payton Ziegler; as well as one great-grandson, Benjamin Villalobos Diaz, who always made him smile.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Haas, and a sister, Loyola Kornelly.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, at Mullins Memorial, 1056 N.E. 7th Terrace, Cape Coral, with Chaplain Tommy Rickards officiating. Military honors will follow. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m., until the hour of service at the funeral home.
