Four-run fifth helps Mariner top Island Coast

A four-run rally in the fifth inning carried Mariner to a 6-2 victory Tuesday night over Island Coast.

The Gators got eight of their 10 hits from the top four spots in the batting order, but came up dry in run production. Cole Ondrejka led the way with three hits, Anthony Curlin had two hits with an RBI and Kameron Gellinger finished with two hits, including a double.

Enrique Morales led the Tritons with two hits, including an RBI double to highlight the fifth inning game-clinching rally. Jason Pickett contributed three hits with two RBI.

Michael Patton pitched five innings to earn the victory for the Tritons with Tony Lopez earning a save with two innings in relief.

The Tritons (12-11) host Dunbar on Friday. The Gators head to next week's district tournament.

Ida Baker 4, Palmetto Ridge 1: Zack Nason and Cody Keller came through with two base hits and an RBI apiece to spark Ida Baker to victory Tuesday night at Palmetto Ridge.

Both RBI came in the Bulldogs' four-run rally in in the third inning. The other two runs were unearned.

The Bulldogs (17-4) host Bishop Verot Wednes-day night.
